On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, actor Vaibhav Sharma, known for his role in Jersey alongside Shahid Kapoor and set to appear in I Am No Queen, shared his thoughts on mentorship and learning in the entertainment industry. Reflecting on the significance of guidance in both personal and professional growth, Vaibhav took the opportunity to express how learning has shaped his journey.
While Vaibhav doesn’t attribute his success to a single mentor, he revealed his admiration for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, whose words of wisdom have been a guiding force in his life. “There’s not any single person I can think of, but I thoroughly follow SRK’s thoughts. Every time he speaks, there is wisdom that an artist or actor seeks. His words have been my guiding light,” he shared, emphasizing the importance of learning through observation and inspiration.
As an outsider with no acting background, Vaibhav acknowledged the value of having a mentor in the entertainment industry. He said, “Having a guide is like a blessing, especially in our industry. For someone like me who had no acting background, I didn’t have a mentor per se. But I was fortunate to have friends who helped me during my early days in Bombay, whether it was finding a place to stay or navigating the lifestyle in Mumbai.”
Vaibhav also recounted a life-changing experience from his early days in Mumbai that tested his resilience. “It was my first time in Mumbai, and I had arrived from Punjab by train. Someone was supposed to pick me up at Bandra Station, but they never showed up due to personal reasons. I was left stranded at the station with no assistance. As shocking as the experience was, it taught me an invaluable lesson: that I have to be self-reliant. I picked up my bags, took an auto from Bandra to Andheri West, and that’s where my journey truly began.”
This moment of self-reliance became a turning point in Vaibhav’s life, underscoring the importance of adaptability and perseverance in the entertainment world. His story resonates with many aspiring actors who, like him, enter the industry with dreams and the determination to overcome challenges.
