On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, celebrated on September 5 in India, dancer and actress Mukti Mohan expressed her gratitude towards her sister, singer Neeti Mohan, and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, acknowledging them as her mentors. Mukti, known for her roles in projects like Life Hill Gayi, Gyaarah Gyaarah, Thar, and her current venture A Wedding Story, took the opportunity to thank the two key figures who have significantly contributed to her growth in the world of cinema.
Mukti highlighted the pivotal role her sister Neeti played in her career, stating, “My Godmother Neeti Di has been my guru, guide, and philosopher. She is the reason I love music and the filmographies of inspiring artists. Neeti introduced me to the world of cinema and connected me with Anurag Kashyap Sir, through whom I received my best education in films.” Mukti further shared that she had the opportunity to assist Kashyap on the film Bombay Velvet, where her sister Neeti was also featured as the female voice in the album.
Discussing her mentorship with Kashyap, Mukti added, “Anurag Sir is my mentor and friend. He encouraged me to read and watch world cinema and pushed me to explore theater. His guidance introduced me to various scripts, expanding my understanding of storytelling.”
In a delightful twist of fate, Mukti shared that she has worked with directors who also consider Anurag Kashyap as their mentor. She remarked, “It’s serendipitous that I got to audition for Thar and A Wedding Story, both directed by Raj Singh Chaudhary and Abhinav Pareek, who also regard Anurag Sir as their mentor. I feel blessed to have learned from all of them at different stages in my journey.”
