The MOU, inked between PGI, Choose New Jersey, and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, lays the groundwork for enhanced cooperation in film production and promotion. It establishes channels for sharing ideas, best practices, and information, while also facilitating location scouting for Indian filmmakers interested in shooting projects in New Jersey.
Shibasish Sarkar, President of the Producers Guild of India, emphasized the growing trend of Indian productions filming internationally, citing New Jersey’s allure as a desirable filming destination. He expressed optimism about collaborating closely with counterparts in New Jersey to capitalize on the vast potential for collaboration.
New Jersey’s appeal to filmmakers is bolstered by its attractive incentive programs, including a 30% or 35% tax credit and additional diversity bonuses. The state’s pro-film environment, coupled with its diverse landscapes and extensive support infrastructure, positions it as a top choice for filmmakers seeking international shooting locations.

Tim Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, underscored Governor Phil Murphy’s efforts to foster strong ties with India, positioning New Jersey as a prime destination for Indian business investment. He lauded the potential of the film sector to drive job creation and economic growth in the state.
