London: In a lavish ceremony that drew attention not only for its opulence but also for its guest list, former Solicitor General of India, Harish Salve, tied the knot for the third time. The event was graced by prominent figures, including Nita Ambani, but it was the presence of Lalit Modi, a fugitive from Indian law, that ignited controversy.
Videos circulating on social media depict Lalit Modi among the guests at the wedding, leading to questions about the ethical and legal implications of his attendance. Harish Salve, known for his legal prowess and affiliation with the One Nation One Election committee, has found himself in the midst of a heated debate.
Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi took to Twitter to express her concern over Lalit Modi’s presence, indirectly criticizing the Modi government. She said, “Not that I care about sarkari BJP lawyer marrying a third time & then very conveniently waxing eloquent on behalf of Modi government on uniform marriage laws, polygamy, etc… but what should concern everyone is the presence of a fugitive who is escaping Indian law as an invitee and celebrating Modi government’s favorite lawyer’s wedding.”
Vijay Thottathil, SM Coordinator of INC Overseas, didn’t mince words either, stating, “Modi Ji’s One Nation One Election committee member Harish Salve having a gala time with two frauds, Lalit Modi & Moin Qureshi!! Bhakths only know one fraud, that is Mr. George Soros.” He was joined by Pritesh Shah, General Secretary of Maharashtra Congress, who expressed his disapproval of Lalit Modi’s presence and raised questions about the relationships and associations between individuals.

Lalit Modi, a former IPL Commissioner, faced suspension from the BCCI in the wake of allegations of misconduct and financial irregularities during his tenure. The allegations included defrauding the BCCI of 753 crore rupees in collusion with officials of the World Sports Group (WSG).
