The Indian Army has placed a top-up order of 1850 units of the Scorpio Classic SUV to the country's leading vehicle manufacturer Mahindra. This is the second lot of Scorpio Classic ordered by the Army.

In January this year, Mahindra had received an order to deliver 1470 units to the Indian Army, now this second order has been placed. The company has also shared pictures of the new Scorpio, which is ready for delivery.

The company has specially prepared this SUV for the Indian Army and has made many major changes in it which make it different from the regular model.

A batch of Armyspec Scorpio Classic SUVs is all set for delivery. The SUV is painted Green and gets 5spoke silver alloy wheels, fog lamps, side steps and roof rails.

The Mahindra Scorpio also features a black plastic panel just above the vertical taillights on either side of the windshield to reduce the visibility of the vehicle. It is equipped with a four wheel drive 4wd system.

It is being told by sources that the Indian Army will replace the Maruti Suzuki Gypsy with the new Scorpio which has been in service for almost two decades.

In the past, the Indian Army has also procured a fleet of Tata Xenon pickups and the specially designed Tata Safari Storme GS800, apart from the Gypsy.

Indian Army is also preparing to include electric vehicles EV in its fleet Indian Air Force has recently included 12 units of Tata Nexon EV

It is believed that it will be equipped with the old 22 liter diesel engine with a power output of 140hp. The new 22 liter diesel engine is available in the model available in the market.
