Chandigarh, Haryana : In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Chandigarh, a shocking case of voyeurism has come to light, revealing a girl’s involvement in creating obscene photos and videos of her fellow female residents. The accused, acting at the behest of her boyfriend, installed hidden cameras in the bathroom of a paying guest accommodation, leading to outrage among the victims.
The Chandigarh police swiftly responded to the complaint, arresting the accused girl and her accomplice in connection with the scandalous act. Both individuals have had their phones seized and sent to the CFSL lab for further investigation. The lab report is anticipated to uncover the extent of the accused’s activities, shedding light on how many compromising videos were created and who they were shared with.
The police are actively pursuing the investigation, with a focus on understanding the full scope of the crime. The incident came to light when one of the victims discovered a suspicious device above the geyser in the bathroom. Subsequent inquiries revealed the presence of a hidden camera, prompting the victim to report the matter to the landlord.
Prompt action was taken by the police, who reached the location, seized the device, and initiated questioning. The paying guest accommodation, situated on the top floor of Sector-22, housed five girls sharing a common bathroom. Shockingly, it was revealed that the accused girl had installed the device following instructions from her boyfriend, identified as Amit Handa, a resident of Sector-20.
The police have registered a case against both the accused under sections 354 C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 509, and Section 66 of the Information Technology (IT) Act. The severity of the charges reflects the gravity of the invasion of privacy and the emotional distress caused to the victims.
