Renowned actress Ekta Tiwari, currently captivating audiences as Flower in Gudiya Rani on Dangal TV, believes that growth as an artist requires constant homework and revision. “Homework and revision will most probably continue all your life,” she laughs, emphasizing the ongoing process of self-improvement in any creative field.
Ekta’s approach to enhancing her craft applies to all creative professionals—whether they are artists, writers, directors, or cinematographers. “Improvement involves reading, writing, watching both old and new content, and creating. Then, you take inspiration and implement it mentally and physically, with freedom, without copying or being influenced by anything else,” she shares. According to Ekta, these elements form the foundation of creative mastery, giving an artist the freedom to innovate and grow without being held back by existing trends or influences.
Exploring New Horizons
While Ekta is widely recognized for her acting, she is keen to explore other facets of the entertainment industry. “I’m very inclined toward writing, then directing, and then producing,” she reveals. Her first poem, Shabdome Anekta Ekta Sang, is currently in the works, signaling her expanding creative horizons.
She stresses the importance of staying updated within one’s craft, although not necessarily through gossip. “Self-updates are mostly through social media nowadays, directly from the concerned person or media house. I’m not a gossip person, so I’m not updated in that case at all.”
Handling Criticism: A Growth Mindset
Constructive criticism can be a valuable tool for any artist. For Ekta, feedback is crucial, but she applies a discerning filter. “I do it very positively. I use both my ears. I try to let go of things that don’t make sense to me,” she explains. While she admits that some feedback can leave a lasting emotional impact, she emphasizes the importance of letting go over time.
Ekta also reflects on her hyperactive, multitasking nature—a trait she has embraced since childhood. This trait, she believes, is her strength when it comes to understanding scripts and developing her characters. “My understanding of the given script, character, and content helps me add little nuances to the graph and journey of the character,” she notes.
Ekta Tiwari’s dedication to her craft, openness to feedback, and willingness to explore new creative avenues are inspiring examples for any aspiring artist. Her commitment to growth, both personally and professionally, shows that true mastery requires constant learning and revision—principles she has embraced wholeheartedly.
